Dear AMROA Members, This year has flown by for me. I want to thank you for allowing me the privilege of serving as your President. It is an honor to be associated with this wonderful and talented group of individuals. Our booth at the League of Municipalities Convention in Mobile was a huge success. We already have some new members that have joined. Thanks to AMROA members Haley Burford, Gwen Hall, Pat Hyland and Pat Smitherman who manned the booth with me. Also thanks to Gwen Hall for storing and delivering the AMROA display. NBBLO is in Las Vegas in July. Haley and I will give you all the details at the Summer Conference. The AMROA Summer Conference is in Pelham at the Civic Complex, August 4 – 6. You are in for a real treat. Wednesday, registration will be from 3 PM-6 PM with a reception starting at 6 PM. After the reception, the hospitality room will open at the newly opened Fairfield Inn and Suites. Please check the front desk for the room number. Contact Jarrod Simmons for details of the "AMROA Open" at 256-231-7799 or email Jarrod at jsimmons@annistonal.gov . This event will be held at the beautiful Ballentrae Golf Course, Wednesday, August 4 at 12:30. We’ll have a full report on the outing at the luncheon on Thursday. We have a great agenda planned with lots of interesting speakers and topics. Please make plans to register as soon as possible for the conference. Hotel rooms will be available at the Fairfield Inn and Suites and the Hampton Inn and Suites (side by side) and are a short distance to the Civic Complex. The nominating committee will be receiving nominations for Officers and a Board Member. Please remember they must have a letter of support from their city to be placed on the ballot. The City of Pelham has our own executive chef and catering director, Jay and Lynn Roberson. Need I say more………..!! Thursday morning at the Civic Complex will start out with breakfast served at 7:00 with "all the works". Please attend and network with your fellow members. Immediately following the banquet, we will have a group performing "oldies but goodies". You never know, it could be someone we all know and love……. Get ready to rock and roll and dance the night away. Friday morning, to close out the conference, will be classes and door prizes. Please come ready to learn, have fun, and with an appetite. Don’t forget your door prizes!! Thank you to my fellow officers and board members. I could not have done it without your help. Also, big thanks to John Powell, my publicity committee chairman, for keeping me informed and on track. See you in Pelham and again, I want to thank you for allowing me to be your President. It was an awesome year for me!! Sincerely, Kathy Woodard
