SUMMER CONFERENCE -- July 16-18, 2008 |
| HISTORY |
Dear AMROA Members, It is hard to believe that I am writing my last letter to you as President. The year has flown by and has been quite busy for each of us. I would like to thank you, the members of AMROA, for allowing me the privilege to serve as your President. It has been an honor to serve such a wonderful and talented group of individuals. I am reminded every day just how much your professional and personal friendships mean to me. My focus this year was to continue to educate our members on the business license reform and to publicize and represent AMROA in a positive and professional manner. I feel we have accomplished both of these goals. Our membership is at an all time high of 290 members and continues to grow. I anticipate this record will be broken next year and for many years to come. We have planned a very interesting annual conference in Guntersville with an informative agenda. We will begin on Wednesday night, July 16, with a reception and will also have a Hospitality Suite open later that evening. I encourage everyone attending to come by and visit. This is invaluable time spent with fellow members. We will begin each day with a real breakfast buffet with includes eggs, biscuits, and that Southern favorite, gravy! The banquet will be a Southern Barbecue Feast and you will be able to dance away all those extra calories with the entertainment provided by the band Subject to Change. Please come ready to learn, relax, and enjoy your stay at the beautiful Guntersville State Park Lodge. Please bring door prizes! Our annual golf outing will be on Wednesday, July 16, at 11:00 a.m. at the Guntersville State Park Golf Course. Jack Young and Haley Burford are coordinating this event. If you are interested in participating, please call Jack (256-549-4562) or Haley (256-549-4563) or email Jack at jyoung@cifyofgadsden.com no later than July 9 so that tee times can be reserved. The nominating committee has received nominations for your officers and board member and will present them at the meeting. If you would like to nominate someone from the floor please remember they must have a letter of support from their City to be placed on the ballot. I have had some volunteers for the By-Laws Committee but we need more. We are also forming a Certification Review Committee. If you are interested in serving on either of these please contact me. I would like to take this opportunity to say thank you to my fellow officers and board members. It has been a pleasure to serve with you and I could not have done it without your help. Thanks also to my publicity committee and you the members for all your support. My husband and I would also like to say a special thank you for all your prayers and heartfelt concern during his recent illness and surgery. It was a difficult time for us and it means so much to know that people care. I look forward to seeing you in Guntersville. Again, thank you for allowing me to be your President. Sincerely,
