2009 League Convention

On May 3-4, AMROA members participated in the Alabama League of Municipalities 2009 Annual Convention in Montgomery.  Charles Wilson (Montgomery) and Faye Comer (Montgomery) updated the booth signage prior to the event.  Although not in the picture below, Kathy Woodard (Orange Beach) set up and staffed the booth on the first evening. The picture shows AMROA members Jack Young (Gadsden), Haley Burford (Gadsden), Pat Hyland (Mobile) and Gwen Hall (Mobile) who staffed the booth on the second day and shared information with numerous elected officials, city clerks and others.  AMROA President Gwen Hall was also at the head table during the luncheon at which Governor Bob Riley was the speaker. Interest in the event seemed particularly high, perhaps in part due to all the new council members in attendance.  AMROA thanks these dedicated members and their cities for providing time to promote the advantages of AMROA membership.

2009-2010 AMROA President Kathy Woodward has recently changed jobs from Orange Beach, AL and is now the Revenue Clerk for the City of Pelham. Morgan "Carries the Torch"

Michael Dale Morgan recently helped run the Special Olympics torch from Pelham to Alabaster preceding this year's activities in Troy.  He participates in bowling and swimming.  His father, Mike Morgan, is Pelham Revenue Director.  His mother, Becky, is a longtime Special Olympics event coordinator through the Exceptional Foundation in Homewood.  Their family was recognized as Alabama's Special Olympic Family of the Year during the torch relay.  This great honor is well deserved.  Congratulations to the entire Morgan family!
